Idle Airline Tycoon is a web game where players take on the role of CEO of a mega aircraft enterprise. Players need to manage their resources, staffs and routes while expanding the enterprise into the biggest airline company. The game intends to be both entertaining, challenging and educational to players at the same time. A wide variety of different aircraft, including several private jets, can be purchased and operated. The game uses real-world economic models and industry simulation. As you progress, you will be able to upgrade to newer aircraft as you increase your profits.
First, players will build a fleet of airplanes and select staff from the workers employed at their airports. They can hire crew, engineers and ground staff on the crew page. There are also a variety of aircraft that can be purchased. The game gives the player access to various airliners ranging from small regional jets, helicopters to passenger aircraft, cargo planes and even private jets! If the player is not satisfied with the aircraft they have now, they can upgrade them to increase their efficiency.
Once a fleet of planes is acquired, the player can create routes that connect their airports and destinations. By selecting a point of origin and destination, the player will be presented with various routes and prices they can offer to passengers. As they gain passengers, money will start rolling in, allowing the player to purchase more aircraft or build upgrades such as airport expansions, airplane maintenance garages or upgrades to aircraft.
Players can raise money by collecting taxes from their airports, setting up advertising campaigns and refueling aircraft before takeoff. They can also increase their income by expanding to new airports and creating new routes that will maximize their profits. As the player progresses, they will be able to purchase new airplanes which are better in terms of fuel efficiency. Aircraft maintenance garages can also be built to ensure the reliability of their fleet.
Throughout the game, players will need to manage their resources to make sure their aircraft are sufficiently supplied with fuel, staff and maintenance. In the aircraft page, they can tap on each airplane to make sure they are properly loaded and serviced. The airline must also set up various routes and timelines to maximize efficiency. As they upgrade their fleet and create new routes, more money can be earned.
Players can buy upgrades for their aircraft and airports to further increase their profitability. Upgrades can be purchased for planes such as engines, fuselages, cockpits, wings and landing gear. The player can also upgrade airports to increase the number of passengers and cargo that can be handled. It’s also important to take care of regular maintenance to avoid unnecessary delays or breakages.
Players can compete against other rival AI airlines by increasing their market share. This can be done through various strategies, such as opening new routes, offering discounts and enticing passengers to fly with the player's airline with attractive rewards. As players progress, they will unlock more powerful aircraft as well as new business opportunities.
